Hello World Hack 2021 will be hosted virtually due to the Covid-19 restrictions. We will be using Discord to provide workshops, games, mentoring and other activities for all the participants.
Yes, in the registration form we have included an option to register as a team. All team members should register separately and will have to provide the names of their teammates. We have made the change to allow teams to register for HWH 2021 to compensate for moving to a virtual event.
Yes! Hello World Hack is designed with beginners in mind. You will have the opportunity to learn new coding skills and network with other beginners. There will be mentors and workshops available to guide you through the challenges.
Hello World Hack 2021 will take place on Discord. You can connect with the committee, mentors and fellow participants via the channels on the Discord Server.
Hello World Hack is a 3-day event, starting on the evening of the 12th February 2021 and finishing on the 14th February 2021.
Please do! For HWH 2021, we’ve extended the duration of the event to ensure you have time to rest between coding and the social activities.
Mentors are the backbone of Hello World Hack. Most of our hackers are beginners so mentors are there to guide and assist them with their projects. You may be asked to help find bugs, coach teams with new technologies or for advice on which technologies to use. If you don’t know your team’s answer, we will have mentors with a variety of backgrounds that can help out!
Don’t worry - you’re not the first person to ask this! A hackathon is similar to a conference but you will also work in teams on a project over a short period of time. There are workshops and challenges you can work towards in order to win some great prizes. In-between the coding, there are social activities and opportunities to network with employers.
